Summer Camps
Join Windfall this Summer for our fun summer camps!
Camps will include creative movement and crafts for younger children, and a fun approach to dance technique with an emphasis on making one’s own dance pieces for older students.
June 2-5
10-11:30am
Carnival of the Animals, for ages 4 to 6 years old, is for creative movement dancers. No previous dance experience is required. We will start each day using animal inspiration and animal-themes music for movement qualities and dynamics. Then we will take a break to do a craft. Lastly, we will dance with the craft. The final day we will allow parents and family to watch -and maybe even participate in– the last part of the session which will include all the animal inspirations we have covered over the week.
June 9-12
10am-12pm
Treasure Island is for ages 7 to 10 years old. No previous dance experience is required, but it is also fine if the participant has had some dance classes. We will learn various dance steps from the vocabularies of ballet, modern dance, and jazz dance to make creative sequences based on beaches, island life, and treasures from shells to crowns! We will take a break and make crafts, then for the end of the camp session we will dance with the crafts. The final day we will allow parents and family to watch the last part of the session as a celebration of all the participants have learned.

1-3pm
Showtime is for ages 10 to 16 years old. No previous dance training is required: it will be fun for everyone whether they have had some dance experience or not. This camp will focus on the type of movement, style, and attitude appropriate for those interested in musical theater. The music will be from popular musicals and will inspire the participants to create their own sequences and routines. We hope to encourage those young people who intend to perform with all of the musical comedy opportunities for young people that happen in Bloomington.
